This vast treasury is held in the archives of the Albert Kahn Museum in Paris – home to the most significant collection of early color photographs in the world. In 1909, the French financier Albert Kahn sent photographers around the world to document life on the planet. These photographers witnessed some of the most historic events of the age, but also photographed the intimate details of the everyday lives of ordinary people. More than a century later, viewers can see Kahn’s remarkable archive of vivid and hauntingly beautiful pictures.
