EXCLUSIVE : THE PERFECT BRIDE Scoop: Shining The Spotlight On Pascale Hutton

Clearly having the time of her life and grateful for her chance to shine, Pascale Hutton is starring in another fun-filled Hallmark film “The Perfect Bride.”  As if she were not busy enough co-starring in Hallmark’s hit series “When Calls The Heart,” Pascale has eagerly embraced every chance she gets to portray another strong, confident, and ready-for-love women.  After all, there is nothing more appealing than a woman who knows what she wants and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it.  So it is a pleasure watching Pascale reach for the roles she wants and attaining so much satisfaction from it.  In an exclusive interview, Pascale talks about the fun she had working on “The Perfect Bride” and reuniting with her “When Calls The Heart” co-star Kavan Smith on this special project.

What initially appealed to you about the role of Molly White and working on Hallmark’s “The Perfect Bride”?
PASCALE:  I always jump at the chance to be reunited with Kavan [Smith] and our director Martin Wood.  The fact that it was a really great, fun script was just an added bonus.

How would you describe who Molly is?
PASCALE:  Molly is incredibly gifted at seeing other people’s truth but she’s still searching to discover her own.  She also likes to laugh, mostly at Nick (Kavan’s character)!

What do you most admire and/or like about Molly?
PASCALE:  She doesn’t shy away from tough questions, both asking them and answering them.

What is it like working alongside Kavan Smith again, with whom you also co-star with in “When Calls The Heart”?
PASCALE:  Kavan and I truly just like hanging out together.  We also have very similar approaches to our work and we like to keep things light on set so any chance we get to work together is a real treat, pure enjoyment…….that is when we’re not driving each other crazy 😉

How would you describe the relationship between Nick and Molly in “The Perfect Bride”?
PASCALE:  It’s complicated; they both have a lot of baggage to sift through, but there’s definitely a spark.

By the end of the film, what was your favorite part about working on “The Perfect Bride”?
PASCALE:  I loved every second of every day and that is not an exaggeration, but the part that I quite unexpectedly enjoyed filming was the bootcamp sequences.  Honestly, I was terrified of running an exercise bootcamp, even if it was a pretend one, but they ended up being a lot of fun, not to mention a great workout!

Has been the one thing you as an actor haven taken away from the experience of working on “The Perfect Bride”?
PASCALE:  That I really want to find another project for Kavan, Martin and I to collaborate on.

What do you hope viewers take away from watching “The Perfect Bride”?
PASCALE:  I’m hoping the devoted Hearties will delight in seeing Kavan and I in a different story with different characters and that the enjoyment we had while filming will translate to our audience.

Having done a number of Hallmark films (including “Summer Of Dreams,” “Recipe For Love”)  as well as currently co-starring in “When Calls The Heart,” what initially made you want to join the Hallmark family and what keeps you there?
PASCALE:  Hallmark has been incredibly thoughtful and supportive of me as an actor.  They continue to find knew ways to challenge me both with new characters/projects like “The Perfect Bride,” but also by adding complexity to my already established character of Rosemary on “When Calls the Heart.”  Their commitment to portraying strong, complex female characters as protagonists is remarkable and inspiring.

What stands out the most for you from having worked on these projects?
PASCALE:  Again, it’s the interesting female characters that are driving the stories.

What are the positive aspects of being part of the growing Hallmark family for you?
PASCALE:  Obviously, I feel blessed to be a part of a network that champions female stories; they have a very devoted, passionate, and supportive following of viewers who are thrilled that there is a network out there committed to creating this style of content.  And selfishly,  I enjoy being a part of a network that truly cares about it’s actors.

What has surprised you most about your career so far?
PASCALE:  That it would lead me to acquire such unique and unexpected skills.  I have had to learn how to rappel, snow shoe, sword fight, shoot, jump out of a helicopter, jump onto a horse, kickbox, play hockey, and nurse my baby while wearing a corset (all with varying degrees of success.)

At this stage of your career, what do you think you have learned from the amazing variety of roles and projects you have worked on?
PASCALE:  That I will never be able to predict what is going to come next.

Then what are the perks of where you are in your career right now?
PASCALE:  I get to work in my city which allows me to have a beautiful work/life balance.  My kids will only be young once and I don’t want to miss a minute of it.

If there were one role you would like to revisit, which would it be and why?
PASCALE:  I would love to go back to Julianna in “Intelligence,” a Canadian TV show for CBC.  She was the character I played that was the most unlike me in real life.  I still feel like, with that character, I was putting together a puzzle that was missing pieces; a process that was invigorating and frustrating and exciting .

Do any of your characters and the situations they find themselves in ever leave a lasting impression on you?
PASCALE:  I love when I read a script and a character reacts/behaves/or is affected in a completely surprising way.  It’s the idiosyncrasies that I find compelling.

Has there been any great advice you have gotten?  What advice would you offer to other upcoming and aspiring actors?
PASCALE:  This piece of advice from my Mom was not pertaining to acting but it has served me well in acting and life in general: “You are capable!”
