In a world of vampires, werewolves, witches and hybrids, the stakes are always incredibly high on THE ORIGINALS. Fortunately, for the vampires on the show, wooden stakes are generally more of just a nuisance and not the end of their existence. But that doesn’t mean that vampires are immune to death. In fact, for the Mikaelsons, death is circling closer than ever before. A seer has foreseen their demise and has there is a prophecy that the Mikaelsons and all their vampire progeny will die as the result of an unholy trinity: a betrayal by friend, family and foe. Alas, the seer was killed before further details as to who might betray them and how that is even possible. But with death looming on the horizon a Sire War has begun as the First Generation of vampires have flocked to New Orleans to protect their individual sire lines from eminent demise. Interesting, the First Generation seems to have struck up an uneasy alliance amongst themselves and have perhaps concocted a nefarious plan to imprison their sires to preserve an entire race of vampires.
In order to try to gain some clues about what the Mikaelson brothers Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) hope to do to derail any plans by Tristan (Oliver Ackland) and Lucien (Andrew Lees) and the demented Aurora (Rebecca Breeds), our reporter was invited on set to get the inside scoop.
Joseph Morgan talks about the state of Klaus and Elijah’s relationship after learning about Elijah’s betrayal and compulsion of Aurora, whether Klaus will continue to intervene and protect Cami (Leah Pipes), Klaus’ worries for his daughter baby Hope, what to expect from the prophecy, the amazing journey from villain to hero for Klaus Mikaelson and the role of Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) in Klaus’ life as the mother of his daughter and the cross-over potential with THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.
Daniel Gillies also talks about the fractured Elijah and Klaus relationship and Elijah’s culpability in Klaus’ decent into madness, what role Tristan has to play still, where Elijah’s heart shall lead him with regard to Hayley, just what hellaciousness is in store in dealing with the “unholy trinity” during the upcoming Thanksgiving episode, which of the Mikaelson sisters may be in jeopardy, the important of Elijah’s identity and purpose in the show and the joy of working with baby Hope.
As a bonus, co-star Phoebe Tonkin also shares a bit of insight as to how her character Hayley continues to seek her own alliances and where her heart lies between the three men in her life: her husband Jackson (Nathan Parsons), her star-crossed lover Elijah, and the father of her child Klaus.
To find out just how dire and tragic the events of the next few episodes will be for one or more of the Mikaelsons, be sure to tune in for all new episodes of THE ORIGINALS on Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. on the CW.
