According To Jim, entering the 8th season! What’s coming up this year, what can we expect?
There’s a lot of Ruby and Jim this year. A lot of the kids and Jim. He just messes everything up this year.
It seems like that’s what his character does best.
Yeah, he should just stay out of things. He shouldn’t get involved.
What I like about the show is it really is what happens in a family, nobody’s perfect, etc.
Exactly. You learn a lesson in the end, everyone is happy in the end, but during the show, everybody makes mistakes. That’s what makes it funny, too, because the mistakes are ridiculous.
Has it been difficult for you, growing up in front of the camera?
No, not really [laughs]. It’s all I’ve really known though, because I’ve been on it for so long. I haven’t experienced a normal life; it’s just all I’ve ever known.
Is it difficult to say goodbye now that it’s over, and you’re going on to other things?
Yeah, it’s really hard to say goodbye. Everyone there grew up as a family. I consider them to be a part of my real biological family. Saying goodbye to them was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. It’s kind of bittersweet. I get to move on and do bigger, better things.
What are some of your favorite memories from seasons past?
Some of my favorite memories have been with me and Jim. Just being together and having fun. Everybody being there for me, everyone being there for each other. Growing up on set with these amazing people.
So you’re a part of Pink-E-Swear. Tell me about that!
It’s actually a singing-dancing-acting group. We have almost 15 songs recorded. We are going to have our album out pretty soon; we’re hoping next year. We have a TV show in the process. We’re starting to perform in a lot of places; like every weekend, we’re booked to perform.
Are these people that you knew, or people you met through the business?
I’d met Caroline (KC) through a little boy Conner Rayburn on our show. They had been friends for a long time, and she found her way into the group. I was the first one into the group. Then came Young Saige. I’d seen her at a couple auditions, we’ve gotten to know each other through the group. Actually, Conner found her! Then came Sydney and she’s from Georgia. My manager actually found her. Then came KC, who Conner found.
What kind of music is it? Who would you compare your sound to?
Everyone says Hannah Montana times four, but I think our music is more pop; I think it’s more Spice Girls.
Talking about TV, what are some of your favorite shows?
Gossip Girl is my number one favorite show right now. I have all of the first season and second season on my computer and I watch it religiously. It’s the only show that I have to watch. I don’t watch a lot of TV.
Who are some of your favorite actors and actresses – who do you want to follow in their footsteps?
I really, really admire Blake Lively. She inspires me.
Do you have advice to actors and actresses, starting young?
It’s really extremely to get into the business but it’s so worth it. you have to not be so hard on yourself when you get criticized or turned town. It’s really not your acting always; it’s probably because the mom of yours who is going to play your mom has a different hair color than you do. You can’t take it personally.
