Addison and Pete take care of a pregnant lady with unexplained chronic pain.  The woman tells them that if they can’t take the pain away then she doesn’t want to keep the baby.  The husband talks to Pete in the hallway and says that he refuses to abort the baby.  Pete then tells them that they could try alternative medicine to get rid of the pain. Addison says it will take too long to take effect and they can’t give her any pain medicine because it will affect the baby.

Later, Addison and Pete argue about what to do. Amelia overhears and tells them to do an MRI.  It ends up revealing that she has a growth causing pressure on the brain. It can be removed and get rid of her pain immediately.  They inform the patient that she’ll need surgery which could kill both mother and baby or keep her pain free.  She decides she wants the surgery.

The husband talks to Pete while she is in surgery with Addison and Amelia.  Pete realizes that it sounds a lot like his relationship with Violet after she had the baby.  He encourages him to keep trying and to wait for the woman he fell in love with to be herself again.  The surgery goes well. Back in the room, the husband reaches for her hand and she pulls it to her belly and they feel the baby kick.

Addison talks to Sam about taking Betsey in for a few days.  He says although he feels guilty about it he just can’t do it. He thinks that it will be too hard on Addison when they have to give her back. He also tells her that he doesn’t know if he wants another child. Addison says she might want another one and wants to know that it would be ok with him.

Cooper suggests to Charlotte that they should help Betsey. She doesn’t agree. He later tells her that he was adopted. Why is no one stepping up to take care of Dell’s kid? Ugh!

Cooper talks to a teenage patient who is being bullied at school. He tells Cooper he has been hit and duct taped to the flagpole by the bullies just because he’s in to a certain cartoon.  Cooper asks him what his favorite super hero would do.  His mom starts to walk in and the boy tells him not to tell his mom because she keeps making him transfer schools because of the bullying.  The next day the mom explodes on Cooper saying her son brought a knife to school and that he should have told her what was going on because he’s only 14.  Sheldon catches up to her as she gets in the elevator and tells her he thinks he could help her son.  The boy later talks to Sheldon and explains that his mom keeps switching schools and it’s not giving him a chance to find a group to fit in with.

Betsey stays over at Violet and Pete’s. When they wake up they can’t find Lucas.  They finally find him with Betsey watching cartoons.  She later tells Sheldon and he tells her that Betsey needs years of therapy to help her with the problems she has and that she needs to let her go.

Betsey spills her juice in the kitchen at the office and cowers when Violet walks in.  Violet takes her own drink and dumps it on the floor. Then they start shaking up and dumping drinks on the floor until they are giggling and hugging.  Betsey asks if she can stay with Violet forever.

Cooper and Sheldon go to the 14 year olds house and talk to the mom about letting him stay at his current school.  Sheldon explains that with help from him he will be able to teach him skills that will make him able to stand up to the bullies. She starts crying and telling them she can’t do it anymore. She says she doesn’t know what will help him because he’s weak and a wimp and she is so disappointed to know that he is what she raised. The mom spots him in the doorway and realizes he has overheard everything.

Violet and Pete continue to argue about keeping Betsey. She says because she was Dell’s friend and she’s a therapist that she can relate to Betsey and help her.

Pete goes to Cooper and asks for advice.  Cooper then goes to see Violet and tells her he doesn’t think she should adopt Betsey because she and Pete are just starting to figure their relationship out and Betsey will only make it harder for them.

Pete and Sheldon are paged to the hospital for the young boy.  The mom tells them that she blames herself and explains that he tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach. They go to his room as he’s waking up.  Cooper admits that he was bullied as a kid but now he’s a doctor and engaged to a beautiful woman. He tells him that one day it will get better for him too.  Kenny agrees to talk to Sheldon and tells his mom she needs to let him do this and stay in the school.

Violet realizes that Pete will not take Betsey in no matter how she pleads. She then asks everyone in the practice if they are willing to take Betsey so that she doesn’t have to go to foster care.  Sheldon walks in with the social worker and no one steps up again. Violet walks out and goes to explain to Betsey what is happening.  Betsey doesn’t understand why Violet won’t keep her. Violet tells her that she hopes a nice family who has wanted a little girl will adopt her. Violet then returns to the group and tells them they should all be ashamed.  Yes they should be!  How can you not help this poor little girl?  I can’t believe how selfish this group is.

Next week…it appears that Amelia and Sheldon may hook up and Addison is flirting with someone else.
