In the world of, “art” can range from artisanal knots, to tangled earbuds, to the questionably-designed tip jar – but the series key art always takes the top prize. In keeping up the tradition of working with celebrated female photographers, IFC tapped American artist and fashion photographer Collier Schorr for the final Season 8 key art, featuring stars and creators Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. Portlandia’s eighth and final season premieres Thursday, January 18 at 10PM on IFC, with ten episodes airing weekly.
Best known for her portraits, Collier Schorr’s pictures often blend photographic realism with elements of fiction and youthful fantasy. As part of the heady New York art world of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, Schorr’s early work mined the vernacular of postmodernism to create photographs that toe the line between documentary and fiction. She has exhibited her work internationally at prestigious venues that include the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art, Krakow, Le Consortium, Dijon, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, Guggenheim Museum, New York, and many more.
For the past five seasons, IFC has partnered with the following highly-praised, world-renown female photographers for the Portlandia key art:
- Season 4 Key Art: Alex Prager
- Season 5 Key Art: Catherine Opie
- Season 6 Key Art: Tina Barney
