When we last saw our heroes in OUTLANDER, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) was trying to return to her rightful time in 1945 and her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) only to be captured by Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) being forced to come to her rescue. But before all those momentous events, there was a momentary quiet-time when Claire was the special guest of Castle Leoch and Colum MacKenzie (Gary Lewis) and she met the mesmerizing Geillis Duncan (). Geillis always seemed to know a lot more than she ever really said and she wielded an unusual power that both the locals and the Castle Leoch clan seemed wary of — like they were never sure just what she could do and what she knew.
While attending the recent red carpet at the premiere of Sony PlayStation’s POWERS, we caught up with star who shared a few teasing thoughts about the second half of OUTLANDER’s first season, which returns on April 4th:
Lotte Verbeek gave a wink-and-nod to the upcoming trials and tribulations that Geillis will undergo and how that may either fracture or strengthen her friendship with Claire. However, Jamie will not appreciate the position Geillis puts him and his bride in for the upcoming second half of the first season. But as to whether that means Lotte will get to have a scene with the Scottish actor who has set fans’ hearts afire, well, she could only laugh and admit that she is hopeful that such a scene may happen. Lotte also shared that she really loves playing the fiery Geillis with her colorful and slightly wicked demeanor, who holds so many secrets. But whether those secrets will protect Geillis or ensure her doom is yet to be seen. Only one thing is certain, per Lotte, what you think you know about all the characters will be completely turned around as you will find out that you do not know them at all. Every character wears a mask and those masks may be coming off.
To find out just what is behind all the masks and just what secrets Geillis is hiding, be sure to tune in for all new episodes of OUTLANDER starting Saturday, April 4th on Starz.
