NBC announced today a new family-friendly competition series “Perfect 10” — an in-studio game show designed for both American audiences and the international marketplace — featuring 10 deceptively simple games that require savvy contestants to complete under pressure with a prize of $1 million awaiting the winner.
The announcement was made by Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios.
” ‘Perfect 10’ features easy-to-replicate challenges that the audience can play and practice at home,” said Telegdy. “These fun and unique games will entertain and engage even when the show isn’t on TV.”
“This new show creates a new kind of intuitive gaming challenge that has rarely been seen on television before,” said Yvonne Pilkington, Vice President, Format Sales, International Television Productions, NBC Universal. “However, like all the best format ideas it is incredibly simple and relatable. It also represents NBCU’s international focus in expanding our global business profile and integrates perfectly with our projected growth strategy. We’re delighted to be launching the format at MIPCOM next week.”
Over eight one-hour episodes, competitors will face 10 challenges that escalate in level of difficulty. Each game has a 60-second time limit and failure to finish the task on time will eliminate the contestant. At various points throughout the game, the contestant can walk away with the money earned up to that point, but it’ll take nerves of steel to complete all 10 tasks to win the $1 million.
Before the series begins production for television, 50 games will be introduced on nbc.com as well as through on-air promotions. All 50 games can be tested at home prior to tryouts and the official rules of the contests are posted on the show’s website.
“Perfect 10” is produced by Universal Media Studios with Friday Television. Craig Plestis and Tim Puntillo (“Identity”) are executive producers.
