It almost seems like Kathy Griffin’s on the A-list now, with a guest-starring role on “Law & Order SVU,” A-list friends like Cher, Bette and Liza , more award nominations, and the role as host for the Creative Arts Emmy Awards (a.k.a “Schemmy’s”) last year. But just when Kathy’s enjoying her A-List hosting moment she gets back on the D-List by losing in her category. And so begins season six of Bravo’s two-time Emmy winning series, “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List,” premiering Tuesday, June 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
Flanked by her curious motley crew of peeps – assistant Tiffany Rinehart, tour manager Tom Vize, and mom Maggie – this season Kathy takes on Washington, DC to campaign to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell;” gallivants in Alaska with Levi Johnston and knocks on Sarah Palin’s door; judges a toddler beauty pageant alongside her mom; and continues to stalk A-Listers from Kristen Chenoweth and Liza Minnelli to Lauren Conrad. And when she’s not doing all of that, Griffin juggles her A-List remodel of her palatial compound in Los Angeles and accepts mid-week gigs at Biloxi’s Beau Rivage Casino to support her mom’s rent at a pricey senior living community in Beverly Hills.
Fans will get a precursor to the anticipated sixth season when Bravo debuts her eighth stand-up special on Tuesday, June 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, “Kathy Griffin Does the Bible Belt.” Shot before a live and raucous sold-out crowd at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, TN – and Griffin is giddy about the theatre being on the corner of “Church and Gay” (the venue stands at Church Street and Gay Street) — Griffin takes comedic aim at everyone from Oprah and Gayle to Sharon Stone and hoarders.
