Hung, an undeniably offbeat breakout hit embraced by fans and critics alike, makes its DVD and Blu-ray Disc debut when HungSM: The Complete First Season hits stores on June 22, 2010 from HBO Home Entertainment®. Streeting just weeks before the second season premiere on HBO, the two-disc DVD and Blu-ray Disc sets include all 10 episodes from the first season, with bonus SD and BD content for the suggested retail price of $39.98 and $49.99 respectively.
Called “wryly funny” by Daily Variety and “a smart social satire” by USA Today, Hung follows the travails of Ray Drecker, a former high school sports legend turned middle-aged high school basketball coach. In dire straits and facing tough times, Drecker decides to take advantage of his one extraordinary, God-given gift that sets him apart from most men. With a little help from Tanya, a former-acquaintance-turned-pimp, Drecker sails into unchartered waters, trying to balance the demands of everyday life with the ups and downs of a venture about which he knows next to nothing – but which he may be uniquely qualified to exploit.
Filled with insightful bonus materials in both the Standard Definition and Blu-ray Disc versions (with 1080p video and DTS-HD master audio), the special features allow fans to explore Drecker’s new “career” path a little deeper. Features include:
• “About Hung” – behind-the-scenes look at the making of the series, including interviews with cast and crew.
• “The Women of Hung” – an examination into the complex relationships between Ray Drecker and the women in his life.
• Tanya’s creative personal ads that market Ray as a high-end “happiness consultant.”
• Three audio commentaries with series creators/executive producers Colette Burson and Dmitry Lipkin and writer Brett C. Leonard.
The series stars Thomas Jane (The Punisher, *61 from HBO) as Ray Drecker and Jane Adams (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) as Ray’s unlikely business partner, Tanya Skagle, both of whom received Golden Globe® nominations for their roles; Anne Heche (Men in Trees) as Ray’s ex-wife, Jessica Haxon; Eddie Jemison (Ocean’s Thirteen) as Jessica’s successful husband Ronnie; Sianoa Smit-McPhee (As the Bell Rings) as Ray’s daughter Darby; and Charlie Saxton (The Lovely Bones) as Ray’s son Damon. Hung was created by Dmitry Lipkin and Colette Burson, who along with Alexander Payne, Michael Rosenberg, John Morayniss and Noreen Halpern executive produce the show.
