In making the announcement, Tanya Lopez, Senior Vice President, Original Movies, Lifetime Networks, said, "We're thrilled to welcome Heather back to Lifetime after the huge success of 'Angels Fall.' It's obvious that our viewers adore her. This movie is an honest look at how sometimes women can become stuck in first gear, yet finding the courage to make a dramatic change in their lives can truly be invigorating, even to the chagrin of friends and family."
Helen Verno, Executive Vice President, Movies and Miniseries, Sony Pictures Television, said, "All of us at Sony are enormously pleased to be continuing our working relationship with Heather who most recently appeared in our series 'Rules of Engagement.' She is perfect for the part, and we are delighted that she shares our enthusiasm for 'Flirting with 40.'"
In "Flirting with 40," Jackie Laurens (Locklear) is divorced with two kids and facing her biggest fear: turning 40. Her best friend Anne convinces her to go to Hawaii for the big 4-0. At the last minute, Anne cancels and Jackie finds herself alone in Hawaii facing a lonely birthday without her friends or kids. But what looks like a disaster suddenly turns around when Jackie meets Kai, her handsome, much younger surfing instructor. Soon, Jackie embarks on a very uncharacteristic, but wildly passionate fling, convinced it will just be a vacation romance. But as it turns into something more, Jackie faces the disapproval of her loved ones. Riddled with guilt, she is forced to figure out if she is willing to risk everything for a chance at newfound happiness.
