DEADLIEST CATCH Wins Big at 2015 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys

Discovery Channel’s DEADLIEST CATCH won big at the 2015 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys® on Saturday, Sept. 12, taking home three awards including a win for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program.  The series, which recently wrapped its 11th season on Discovery Channel, also won for Outstanding Cinematography for Reality Programming and Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming.

Since its premiere in April 2005, the show has received a total of 38 Emmy nominations and has previously won twice for Outstanding Reality Program (in 2011 and 2014).

DEADLIEST CATCH profiles the men who risk everything to work the most dangerous job in the world – crab fishing in the icy, treacherous waters of Alaska’s Bering Sea. This past season of Deadliest Catch had a ratings streak, as cable’s #1 non-sports telecast every week this season among key demos – totaling 18 consecutive weeks.

In the Emmy®-winning season 11 premiere, massive storms, a super typhoon and new regulations changed all the rules. After years of keeping a lid on Bairdi crab quota, new government regulations increased the inventory by 400 percent.  The changes meant the potential for huge paydays for captains and crew. But it was first come, first serve on the Bairdi grounds, forcing everyone to risk it all to grab their piece of the bounty.
