The Swedish School of Los Angeles – a non-profit 501 C3 organization offering a cultural program for children – is proud to announce THE K-SWISS GLOBAL TENNIS SHOWDOWN, a charity tennis event, taking place on Saturday, May 2nd from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm at The Los Angeles Tennis Center, on campus at UCLA in Westwood.
The event kicks off with a no-holds-barred grudge match tennis showdown between former World Number #1 and Swedish tennis sensation Mats Wilander and non-tennis great Will “King of Clay” Ferrell for global bragging rights. The event will also include a “backyard BBQ” featuring a performance by The Dan Band as well as silent and live auctions. The evening will conclude with the presentation of the 2009 Swedish School of Los Angeles Viking Award to honoree Mats Wilander by 2008 recipients Will and Viveca Ferrell.
“We’re thrilled to have two great performers highlighting what promises to be a great day for The Swedish School of Los Angeles,” said Margareta Saperston, Co-Founder and Principal of The Swedish School.
“I’m extremely excited to be a part of this event,” said Ferrell, adding that “I can finally put an end to my long-standing feud with Mats Wilander. I am tennis!!!”
“I’ve worked my whole career for this moment. Will Ferrell makes me laugh…not because he’s funny but because he’s a bad tennis player,” said Wilander, winner of seven Grand Slam Men’s singles titles.
Tickets for the event range from $25 General Admission to $200 Courtside VIP and can be purchased at the Global Tennis Showdown website: www.globaltennisshowdown.com or by calling the event ticket hotline at 1.888.369.9909.
