Battlestar Galactica Season 4 Premiere A Ratings Monster

The Emmy and Peabody-winning Battlestar Galactica, SCI FI's top original series of 2007, returned with a vengeance on Friday, April 4 at 10pm. The season 4 premiere episode, "He That Believeth In Me," was the #1 cable program in primetime among the Channel's key P25-54 demo. The episode also scored as the #3 cable program of the night among P18-49s.

Battlestar's season 4 premiere earned a 1.6 HH rating, more than 1.5 million P25-54s, 1.4 million P18-49s and more than 2.1 million total viewers. The episode delivered double-digit increases versus the show's highly-rated season 3.5 premiere (January 21, 2007) – up +14% in HH ratings, +19% among P25-54s , +11% among P18-49s and +19% in total viewers P2+.

"He That Believeth in Me" also marked Battlestar's best Live + Same Day showing in P18-49s in more than two years (January 13, 2006, "Resurrection Ship, Part 2"), and its best performance among P25-54s since the show's season 3 premiere (October 6, 2006).

Continuing to revolutionize culture's attitude toward science fiction, Battlestar Galactica dispelled yet another long-held misconception – that sci-fi does not appeal to women. Recently declared as "the most feminist show on TV" by Elle Magazine, Battlestar scored its best-ever female audience to date, with 606,000 women 18-49 tuning in. The show was the #3 cable program in primetime among F25-54s and #4 among F18-49s.

Battlestar Galactica is the gripping saga of humanity's last remnants and their struggle to find a new home while fleeing from their deadly Cylon enemies. Redefining the space opera with its gritty realism, Galactica's intensity, issues-driven topicality, and command performances have garnered it numerous awards, including an Emmy and the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award. The show was recognized by the American Film Institute (AFI) as one of the most outstanding programs of the year two years running. The series is from Universal Media Studios and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick. The outstanding ensemble cast is led by Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. The series airs Fridays at 10pm on SCI FI.
