Kinda cool, that.
Seems interesting story line.
I hope culturally we can handle a brunette lead without red lipstick.
Cause most Tv I see with a female lead are blonde, and if not, then brunette with with less blued-out features.
Just sayin'.

I think she's supposed to be unsure, that's the point. As a "Doll" who is beginning to question her personality imprints, she's losing her grip on who she is supposed to be at any given time. She's supposed to be acting like someone who unsure of who she really is.

Eliza's character is playing a part, she's obviously been doing a mission and something has happened, and now she's stuck outside of the mission with this FBI agent. The whole point of her character is that she's imprinted with memories and personalities that turn her into someone she's not. Eliza is playing it spot on, I can feel the naivity of her character here. All you have to do is watch the 2 minute upfront video of Dollhouse to see Eliza is totally different in that vid to this one. She's ace.

I get what you mean, Blue Gloves. However, did you consider that emoting might be a little different in this case, since these are in fact not the character's real feelings? She is simply playing a role she was programmed to play. Perhaps that is supposed to show through.

Hi, I'm glad you got my point, and I really and sincerely hope that you are correct. I love Eliza...the kind of girl that one would hope to marry. Faith was my second favorite character on Buffy besides Buffy herself, and I want the best for Eliza...I really want her to win--and I want this series to be a big hit for her and my writing hero Joss Whedon, who I regard as a mentor...save, I have only met him through his work...and via watching his interviews.
I am giving my contructive criticism of this scene hoping that if I am correct in my observations that they will fix these apparent problems while they still can.

Blue Gloves, I get what you're saying, I just don't think you're getting what everyone else is saying. She's not supposed to be emoting properly, she's playing a certain programmed character in that scene that's different to how she'd be on another miission, or when she's back at the dollhouse. For 1) this scene is out of context, you can't possibly judge -- if this were a normal show, I'd agree the acting is very stiff, child-like, almost bland, but this is a show where Eliza is a programmed character, you have to take that into consideration.

Watch how different she is in every scene. You really think someone of Joss' experience would let an awful reading into the episode? A guy who has 13 seasons (give or take) of series experience, movies, directing an episode of The Office, etc etc, on his resumé?

Blue gloves;, you just sound like an idiot. Her acting is fine, I wouldn't give a damn if I were an assassin and some cop pulled a gun at a vague noise. I'd be like "Pff, idiot." Or whatever she's supposed to be doing at that particular moment, like everyone else said, you have NO idea who or what the character is, especially at an unknown point and you want her to act like Faith? That would prove no acting talent if all you can do is act like one thing all the time. I constructively criticise you to keep your constructive crticism to yourself if it's this bad.

Hi Vaughn. I respect your words and that of Herself, and yes...I do understand the concept of the show, but I have seen actors play confused characters and characters with altered memories or multiple personalities and erased memories before, and I always judged them on their acting, separate from the story concept or script. In this case however, the problem appears to be emerging from the acting and directing. I could be wrong, and if am, my apologies to all, but I don't believe that I am wrong.
As for the last poster--you dont have the courage to post a sign on name??? You call names like a 2 year old child having a temper tantrum??? Next time, don't come to an intellectual World War 3 without showing-up to the battlefield armed!!!

Thanks Vaughn...nice, but rough trailer...but, thanks to the fast and abbreviated editing, there wasn't enough of Eliza's acting for me to judge either way. Her co-stars appeared to deliver though.

I think Eliza's acting was wonderful in that scene, and in no way just reciting lines. She played the vulnerability and anger very well. Couldn't pick a flaw in that converse between either of them.
This looks awesome, can't wait to see how this show turns out.

As someone who is not a Buffy fan or an Eliza D. fan...um, what in the hell? I don't get what this is about or why they would make this the clip they want on the internet to entice viewers. Two people meet in some kind or rundown warehouse...what the hell? There's not discernible idea of what the plot is, why these two people are here, or where they are going at the end.
The only reason I can see to show this particular scene is for the cleavage.

Enough with the comments on her cleavage, she's a woman and she should be allowed to show it. Everytime someone doesn't like something they try to bring up the sexist argument to try and justify what they're saying. It's just old now. And quite idiotic to suggest they put the clip up to only show her breasts.

I must agree IN PART with Blue Gloves, my first thought when I saw the clip was that Eliza's acting was extremely stiff and fairly poor.
However, given the context of the show, that may not be a bad thing. It may be that she is supposed to look like that. We can't possibly know that.

I actually like Eliza in this scene... she seems very nervous, but I think that is how she is supposed to be playing the character in this scene. I'm sure once we see the entire episode it will fit better.

I loved her facial/emotions after talking about her sister, 00:38.
She did jump a little at the sound, 00:54. I worked at a nightclub that had loud shot-type noises happen outside the front door; everyone heard it, but only the Vietnam Vets hit the floor, then after seeing them ducking, a few of us did the same. But the majority of people there just stood around looking until the security officer came in to announce it was just a piece of junk car backfiring.
I cared for a patient who supposedly lost their memory after a bump on the head. The patient was more watchful (with wide eyes) of most things than regular people, and when his/her family finally made it in, the patient not only watched everything very closely (wide eyes again), but with a bit of nervousness. Pretty much like Eliza did, well done Eliza

I loved Firefly, and I'll watch this just because the same guy's behind it! However, I'm not expecting it to be as satisfying as Firefly.
To S: there may seem to be a great quantity of blondes, but the truth is that they all dyed their hair that colour; when was the last time you saw a natural blonde on television, I'm not even sure a true blonde actress exists...

Look at you all, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves, begging for Joss's table scraps. This trailer was bland and I certainly hope Eliza brings a better game then that.
That being said I will gladly watch anything Joss does as well even though I think everything else doesn't even ceom close to Firefly.
