Showtime Orders A 4th Season Of Californication

Hot off the record-breaking ratings for the third season premiere last week, SHOWTIME is picking up a fourth season of CALIFORNICATION, it was announced today by Showtime Networks President of Entertainment Robert Greenblatt. Twelve new episodes of Showtime’s hit comedy series will premiere in 2010.

CALIFORNICATION’s third season premiere garnered record-breaking viewership -- up a whopping 57% from season two. The series follows the exploits of writer Hank Moody (David Duchovny in his Golden Globe® Award-winning and SAG® Award-nominated role) as he works to balance his career, ex-girlfriend, daughter and hedonistic vices. This year, the economy and lack of book sales force Hank into teaching at a Los Angeles university. Will he be able to keep it together while guiding the next generation of scribes? CALIFORNICATION is created by Tom Kapinos and executive produced by Kapinos, Duchovny and Gina Fattore.

Diane Farr, Peter Gallagher And Kathleen Turner Join Season 3 Of Californication

Oscar® nominee and Golden Globe® award winner Kathleen Turner, Golden Globe® winner and Tony® award nominee Peter Gallagher (“The O.C.”), and television star Diane Farr (“Numb3rs”) will join SHOWTIME’s acclaimed comedy series CALIFORNICATION's third season, premiering later this fall. Turner will play Charlie’s (Evan Handler) tough, sexy boss/agency head with a thing for her newest employee in 10 of the season’s 12 episodes, while Farr will take over as a sexy teacher’s assistant who strikes up a naughty relationship with Hank (David Duchovny) in several episodes. Gallagher will play the dean of students who has a contentious relationship with Hank in 8 episodes.

CALIFORNICATION stars Duchovny as hedonistic novelist Hank Moody who struggles to raise his teenaged daughter (Madeleine Martin), while still carrying a torch for his ex-girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone). This season, Hank takes a new job as a professor at a major California university, while Charlie ditches his porn star agent life for a new firm.

Her smoldering eyes and sultry voice have been heating up stage and screen for the past 30 years – Kathleen Turner has starred in some of the most unforgettable films, including her debut opposite William Hurt in 1981’s Body Heat. She’s earned Golden Globe® awards for her star turns opposite Jack Nicholson in Prizzi’s Honor, and Michael Douglas in Romancing the Stone. In 1986, her work in Francis Coppola’s Peggy Sue Got Married earned her an Oscar® nomination. She later re-teamed with Douglas in the cult favorite, War of the Roses (which garnered her yet another Golden Globe® nomination). On the small screen, she’s had roles on series such as “Law & Order,” “Friends”, “Nip/Tuck” and voiced characters for “King of the Hill” and “The Simpsons”. She starred on Broadway in the revival of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and “The Graduate”. Last year, released a tell-all autobiography, “Send Yourself Roses.”

Farr has found notoriety in a trifecta of civil service roles (FBI agent, firefighter, detective…) holding her own opposite all-male casts in CBS’s “Numb3rs”, and twice opposite Denis Leary in critical favorites “The Job” and “Rescue Me.” She is widely known to younger audiences for her work on MTV’s “Loveline.” She, too, is a published author of a comic look at single women called “The Girl Code” and has written articles for magazines such as Glamour, Esquire and Maxim.

Voted one of America’s top TV dads, Gallagher is best known to small screen audiences as the patriarch of the Cohen clan on the hit series “The O.C.” Gallagher made his film debut in 1989 in Steven Soderbergh’s controversial film Sex, Lies and Videotape and has starred in such popular films as How to Deal, Perfume, While You Were Sleeping and American Beauty (a role which garnered him a SAG Award), and two Robert Altman films: The Player and Short Cuts (for which he took home a Golden Globe®). On Broadway, he earned a Tony® nomination for his work in “Long Day’s Journey into Night” and also worked in “Noises Off,” and “Pal Joey”, both opposite Patti LuPone; in Tom Stoppard’s “The Real Thing” and the 1992 revival of “Guys & Dolls.” Gallagher is also an accomplished vocalist, having released an album in 2005 called “7 Days in Memphis.”
