In yet another sign that Glee has gone from smash comedy hit to cultural phenomenon, the cast's rendition of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" has just been certified Gold for digital sales in excess of 500,000 downloads, and to date, over two million Glee songs have been purchased online. Seven songs from Glee now occupy spots in the top 200 of iTunes' Top Songs chart and Newsweek recently observed that the FOX series' "rabid online fanbase has given the show's music a life of its own." It's this fervor for the music that prompted the New York Times to say "from Cabaret' to Kanye, Songs of Glee' are a hit" and the Los Angeles Times to add "this comedy has become music to our ears."

With only four episodes broadcast this season, GLEE is proving to be not only a ratings smash but also a music powerhouse. Downloads of the musical selections from the hit series have now surpassed the 1 million mark, with nearly every song entering the Top 200 upon release. GLEE boasts 10 songs on the iTunes Top 200 to date, including cast versions of Queen's "Somebody To Love," Heart's "Alone," Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," "Maybe This Time" from "Cabaret," Cline Dion's "Taking Chances," Rihanna's "Take A Bow," Carrie Underwood's "Last Name," Jazmine Sullivan's "Bust Your Windows," Kanye West's "Gold Digger" and REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling."

Columbia Records and Twentieth Century Fox Television today released select songs featured in this week’s episode of GLEE, including show-stopping versions of “Maybe This Time” from “Cabaret” performed by APRIL RHODES (guest star Kristin Chenoweth) and RACHEL BERRY (Lea Michele) and Heart’s “Alone” sung by APRIL (Chenoweth) and WILL SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison). Additionally, the cast version of Queen’s “Somebody To Love,” which was released on iTunes last week, has already landed in the Top 20. These three tracks join 11 songs already available on iTunes, including “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which shot up to No. 1 after the GLEE preview event, as well as Michele’s “Take A Bow,” which peaked at No. 6 and “Taking Chances” which peaked at No. 11.

FOX has ordered a full season of the critically acclaimed comedy GLEE, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company. "The response we've received to GLEE has been remarkable," said Reilly. "It's already got the makings of a cultural phenomenon. I've seen all 13 episodes, and Ryan Murphy, his team and the talented GLEE cast have knocked our socks off with their incredible work. We're happy to pick up this gem of a show, and can't wait to see what they'll do with the rest of the season."
